The Town of Luray is pleased to announce the commencement of another transportation enhancement project in the community. This project has been in planning since 2015, and now full funding is available through the Revenue Sharing program with VDOT. The overall project budget is approximately $1.87 million.
This section of the Corridor Improvements will complement previous improvements to the Intersection of Memorial Drive & West Main Street. The project segment takes off from the southern end of the Intersection Improvements and travels on Memorial Drive south past Montvue Drive to the intersection of Court Lane.
Improvements include street re-building, street widening, drainage improvements, new sewer line, curb, gutter, sidewalk, and street lighting on the southern side (adjacent to the Rescue Squad and Hospital).
The project schedule is planned to begin work in the next thirty (30) days and be completed in the summer of 2023.
A website link on the Town's webpage is being established as the primary resource for all information regarding the project. This site will include relevant pages of the Construction Plans, as well as the N4aintenance of Traffic mapping. News, notices, and important reminders will also be posted there, and on other social media platforms as the need arises.
The Town would like to thank its construction partner, VDOT, as well as the project engineering firm of Racey Engineering & Surveying, and the contractor, General Excavation, Inc. The Town would also like to thank the adjacent landowners who have been so very cooperative, patient, and generous — Page Memorial Hospital, BRVCSP LLC, Skyview Springs, Area Properties, and the Luray Rescue Squad. We look forward to completing another important infrastructure improvement project here in Luray!
