Ron Vickers was elected to the Town Council in May2010 and works as a Technology Education teacher at Sherando High School inFrederick County. Ron is a proud Virginia Tech alumnus and holds aMaster’s Degree in Education from Shenandoah University. Ron and his wifeLayne are active members of the Luray United Methodist Church. Ron ispast president of the Virginia Technology Education & EngineeringAssociation and is now the Publications Editor and Historian. He servedwith Page County Habitat for Humanity for over 20 years and is a proud memberof the Luray Ruritan Club. Ron and Layne (Tony Shaffer’s oldest daughter)have four grown children. Layne retired from Rappahannock CountyElementary School in the spring of 2021 after teaching there for 36 years!She is now a preschool teacher at the Luray United Methodist Preschool. Ron’soldest son Clay lives in New York City and works for VOX Media. Ron’ssecond son Joe works for the organization Young Life and is a head chef at acamp in Clearwater Cove, near Branson MO. Ron’s daughter Carolyn lives innorthern Virginia and teaches 2grade. Ron’s youngest son Ben proudlylives in Luray and teaches at Springfield Elementary School.
